4-hour workshop with award winning photographer and instructor Steve Weinrebe, Getty Images photographer, and author of "Irreverent Photo Tools for Digital Photographers" (Cengage), and "Adobe Photoshop & the Art of Photography" (Cengage).
From the white sand beach and grassy dunes, to the historic Viking Village seaport, to the Barnegat Lighhouse State Park, learn how to use your Digital SLR while exploring light, creative vision, nature and landscape photography, environmental portraits, and more.
We will begin our workshop at the Barnegat Lighthouse State Park, where you will photograph the dunes and nature trail surrounding "Old Barney", and the rocky breakers that form the Barnegat Inlet. From there we will explore historic Viking Village and photograph in the environment of fishing boats and wooden piers. Later in the day you will capture the beautiful afternoon Fall light that blankets the beaches and dunes of Barnegat Light, to explore both landscape and portrait photography techniques.
Location: Barnegat Light, NJ on beautiful Long Beach Island, a barrier island on the New Jersey coast. Historic Barnegat Light is on the north tip of Long Beach Island.

Offered at two locations in Southern and Central NJ, Palmyra Cove Nature Park in Palmyra NJ, and Sayen Gardens in Hamilton NJ, provide spectacular venues for our Spring-Summer Photography workshops. Develop your creative vision with award winning photographer and author Steve Weinrebe. Improve your photography skills while learning the basics of landscape, scenic, and people photography. Explore composition, and the use of color and form, and learn to work with available light for creating dynamic photographs. Under the guidance of your instructor, work with fellow students or independently to explore the photographic opportunities Palmyra Cove Nature Park, or Sayen Gardens, has to offer. This hands-on workshop will help make you a better photographer, whether you are using a high-end Digital SLR, or a Point-and-Shoot camera.

Learn how to use your digital camera to its max! Take great photos by mastering the most important menu and photo options that your camera has. Whether you have a point-and-shoot or a DSLR, or even love your camera phone, you'll want to learn the best methods your camera offers for taking great photos. Learn about white balance, ISO settings, focus, macro photography, flash settings, color options, and more. Bring some of your own photos, but we'll be taking new ones both indoors and out. We'll break up our time between classroom lecture and review, with outdoor (weather permitting) photography. After this workshop you will be prepared for a variety of photographic situations whether you plan to take travel pictures or portraits. Pre-requisite: Students must bring their digital camera to class. Students should be comfortable using a computer. 4-hours, $195, 3-student minimum enrollment, beginner level. Adobe Lightroom, 1-Day Class, Edison NJ (On Customer Site, Private Lessons available)
Learn how to use Photoshop or Lightroom to input and edit RAW files. Use your Digital Camera's capabilities to the max by shooting RAW format. Learn how to download and name your photos, and edit them to bring out colors, highlight and shadow detail, create stunning color and black & white photos, and create special effects. Bring out your inner creative self to create images that you love, and will love to show. Bring your own RAW images, and we will spend a short period of the class shooting RAW format photos to work with during the class. Pre-requisite: Students must have a digital camera capable of shooting RAW file format (most Digital SLRs can), and bring their digital camera to class. Students explore advanced digital camera techniques, as well as Photoshop CS6 techniques for image editing. Take your photography to a professional level with two intense days of lecture and hands-on discussion of workflow technique to capture the best quality images that your digital camera is capable of, and learn to use the digital darkroom to develop those images in a way that maximizes their quality and beauty. Discover the power of shooting in RAW format and Camera Raw (same as Lightroom). Learn advanced techniques for color and black-and-white photography, as well as panorama and HDR photography. Explore lens and shutter options for creative techniques with your camera. Use Adobe Photoshop CS6 to download and view your images. Note: if you want to use an alternate software to Photoshop CS6, such as Lightroom, Aperture, or Elements, you may bring your own Laptop to the class. This class includes daily photography excursions in and around Princeton as well as classroom time to download and review your photography. Learn to use your Nikon dSLR to it's fullest and shoot like the pros. Digital SLR cameras have tremendous potential but are only as good as the photographer using them. Your Nikon dSLR has lots of buttons and seemingly limitless menu items. Learn what you need and what is important. Learn what the differences are between shooting modes like Aperture and Shutter priority. Learn about white balance, ISO settings, focus, macro photography, flash settings, color options, and more. We will discuss the power of shooting in Nikon's NEF RAW format, and the best ways to handle JPEG files. We'll also discuss composition and basic camera and lens techniques to get you comfortable and successful shooting with your Nikon dSLR. Pre-requisite: Students must bring their Nikon Digital SLR camera to class, and your camera must have settings that allow both automatic and manual exposure adjustments. Learn portrait photography techniques for photographing families, friends, or co-workers. This class includes projects with camera, lighting (natural and artificial), and minimal digital editing in Adobe Photoshop CS6 or Photoshop CC. You will learn standard and not-so-standard, posing techniques (for both people and pets). Workshop includes lighting tips and setups using available light, simple reflectors, window light, flash, and diffusers. Background possibilities will also be explored. Students will use each other to develop a sense of how each person may benefit from changes in angle, lighting, and background. We'll explore both indoor and outdoor portraits (weather permitting). The workshop will include understanding how to mix flash with daylight, and simple reflectors. The business of portrait photography be discussed including the many options to make money as a portrait photographer. Learn to become intimate with your travel destinations so that you can return with your own photographic artworks from your journeys. Explore techniques to ensure that your travel photography includes magazine quality "cover shots". Learn what to look for and what to avoid. Explore the myriad options that daylight (and morning and evening light) can offer you for both color and effect. Learn to compose with color and to create striking photo compositions that become a memorable symbol of the places you travel to. This workshop includes photo excursions within Princeton to practice your technique and become familiar with your camera; feedback and discussion of your own work to learn what works best in your photographs; lectures in class including rules of color and composition, and viewing other travel photographs to explore what makes a great travel image. Learn to make startling black-and-white images with and from your digital camera. Students will learn to think in black-and-white for portrait or landscape photography, shoot for grayscale image output, and post-process black-and-white photographs in Adobe Photoshop CS6 and Camera Raw. Explore Photoshop's Black & White and Channel Mixer adjustments. Use Photoshop CS6's HDR adjustment to process extreme looking black-and-white images, and discover Photoshop's other options for converting images to black-and-white. Create black-and-white for portraits, landscapes, or still-life images. Students wishing to use Lightroom, Aperture, or Elements to create your black-and-white images should bring your own laptop with your image editing software installed. (Not currently scheduled) - HDR Photography: The Beauty of High Dynamic Range Imagery
Explore the dynamic range of HDR photography in this 1-day workshop. Learn the skills to shoot quality image captures that can be used in HDR imagery. Then use Adobe Photoshop CS6's new "HDR Pro" feature to create startlingly beautiful works of art. You will take photographs that will be the building blocks of HDR images. Then we will download the photographs to the computer and use Photoshop CS6 to merge and manipulate the HDR images. Because Curves are an important part of HDR processing, Photoshop's Curves feature will be fully discussed so that users can make use of the full tonal range in their images. Create unique color and grayscale effects, including super-saturated and grunge, using HDR Pro's feature set. Pre-requisite: Students should be comfortable with their digital camera settings, and getting photos in and out of their computer, as well as good basic computer skills. Students must bring their digital camera to class, and your digital camera must have settings that allow manual exposure adjustments. Explore a vocation or avocation in photography. Spend an information filled day exploring the many options to make money from your photography including taking pictures for web sites, newspapers and magazines. Learn the different business options for portrait, stock, architectural and real estate, advertising, and editorial photography. We'll explore where to look for business opportunities for your photography, how to present yourself and your work, and how to price and charge for your work. Learn best practices to win over clients, and to protect your work to ensure you are paid for your efforts. Become a better photographer and a smart business person. A portfolio review is included. Fundamental Principles of Design
This workshop is ideal for individuals looking to find a job in graphic design for web or print, or for company employees who want to increase their skill level with design techniques. Students will use Adobe InDesign CS6 with a combination of hands-on exercises and lecture. Learn the basics of page layout, type design, creating photo layouts and more. A portfolio review is included. Pre-requisite: 2-day InDesign class or the equivalent experience. Students using Quark may bring a laptop with Quark installed. Note: this is a design technique class, not a software class; students wishing to master InDesign software should take the InDesign class at Imaging R & R, or equivalent, before taking this class. 1-Day. All Destination Workshops have a 10 person minimum enrollment. All classroom workshops have a 3 student minimum enrollment (Note: Graphic Design Basics has a 4 student minimum). If a workshop is cancelled due to low enrollment, or for any other reason, your registration will be moved to the next scheduled workshop or you can choose to receive a full refund. There is no retake policy for photo workshops and no refunds are offered after a workshop is taken. Please read pre-requisites carefully or contact us if you are not sure a particular workshop is right for you.
Cancellation Policy: Tuition is fully refundable if workshop enrollment is cancelled by the student at least 7 days prior to class. If enrollment is cancelled between 1-7 days prior to the class, you will receive 50% refund -minus- a $55 Administration Fee, if you cannot re-assign your tuition to a different class date. There is no refund of tuition for cancellation on the day of the workshop. Workshop days cannot be split between monthly sessions. There is no refund for either cancellations or no-shows for discount tuition offers.
